Our 8.25 x 2.5 inch water bottle labels will fit most 16.9 oz water bottles very well. We recommend purchasing bottles with white lids for weddings because they make an elegant showing; however, blue caps may be perfect for a boy baby shower and green are great for Christmas. You may want to work at your kitchen table or at your desk where you can sit and have a flat surface to work on.
*Suggestion - If you have any of the non-skid shelf liner or something equivalent, it will help hold your bottle when you are working on the new label placement. One other suggestion would be to work with a partner. The labels can be tricky to apply without getting creases or bubbles. Removal of existing label Start with room-temperature, dry water bottles. Many labels are only glued in one spot along a back seam so you can lift one edge and pull. It should come off rather easily. Depending on the brand of water, there may be a line of sticky glue where the seam of the old label previously met. If you want to use Goo-Gone® or something similar to remove the glue you can do so, but it is not necessary unless there is a large amount of glue that will affect the appearance of your new labels.
Apply new label
Notice your new water bottle labels will have a white margin of about ¼ inch; this is the side you will apply first. Peel your label from the sheet and lay it upside down on a flat surface with the white margin closest to you. Now look at your bottles and notice where the first high ridge ends down from the top of the bottle. Hold the bottle on its side with the top of the bottle in the same direction as the top of the label. Start by aligning the label against the bottom edge of that first ridge. This is where a partner can really help; while one is aligning the edge of the label, the other is holding the extra away from the bottle. Once aligned, adhere the label at the white margin and start to roll your bottle away from you. Pay attention to the bottle ridge edge so the label edge will align along the bottom of the ridge. Do not adhere the opposite label side until you are satisfied because it will be difficult to take apart if you need to make adjustments. If the label begins to turn, you can peel it back off and realign. Be careful not to reposition one label too many times because creases will form in the labels and they may not smooth out. Once you are satisfied with the application, overlap the final end of your label over the white margin and press firmly securing the final label end on top of the first. Repeat this process for the next bottle.
Additional Information About Waterproof Labels *Although the instructions for application are still much the same for these, we recommend that you take extra care when applying the waterproof or polyester labels as they are extremely sticky and once they are stuck.... they are stuck! If you get a crease or fold in one, be very careful because these will tear before they will separate. They also hold static electricity and will curl easily so when not applying, keep a heavy book on top to keep them flat. Take your time because once these are applied, they will look very professional. |
